Ingredients:

  • For the Crust:
    • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • For the Orange Filling:
    • 1 cup fresh orange juice (about 3-4 oranges)
    • 1 tablespoon orange zest
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 3 large egg yolks
    • 1/4 cup cornstarch
    • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • For the Frosting:
    • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
    • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Orange zest, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Crust:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated.
    • Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan.
    • Bake the crust for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
  2. Make the Orange Filling:
    • In a medium saucepan, whisk together the orange juice, orange zest, sugar, egg yolks, cornstarch, milk, and salt.
    • Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble, about 7-10 minutes.
    • Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted and fully incorporated.
    • Pour the filling into the cooled crust and smooth the top. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the filling to prevent a skin from forming.
    • Refrigerate the pie for at least 4 hours, or until the filling is fully set.
  3. Prepare the Frosting:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
    • Spread the whipped cream evenly over the chilled pie.
  4. Garnish and Serve:
    • Garnish the pie with additional orange zest if desired.
    • Slice and serve chilled.

Enjoy your Frosted Orange Pie, a bright and creamy dessert that’s bursting with fresh citrus flavor, perfect for any special occasion!
