WIENER WINKS

Wiener Winks are a nostalgic and fun finger food that combines the savory flavor of hot dogs with the creaminess of cheese, all wrapped in soft, toasted bread. Perfect for kids’ lunches, casual gatherings, or a quick snack, these easy-to-make treats bring a playful twist to the classic hot dog. The bread gets perfectly golden and crispy in the oven, while the cheese melts into gooey goodness around the hot dog. Whether you’re serving them with a side of ketchup or mustard for dipping or enjoying them on their own, Wiener Winks are sure to bring smiles to the table.

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices of white or whole wheat bread
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 slices of American cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Mustard or ketchup for dipping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the bread and cheese: Lay out the slices of bread on a clean surface. Place a slice of cheese on top of each piece of bread, making sure it covers most of the bread.
  3. Wrap the hot dogs: Place a hot dog at the edge of each slice of bread with cheese. Roll the bread around the hot dog, securing it with a toothpick if needed to keep it in place.
  4. Brush with butter: Place the wrapped hot dogs (Wiener Winks) seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the outside of each roll generously with melted butter to help them brown and become crispy in the oven.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Serve: Remove the Wiener Winks from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Serve with mustard or ketchup for dipping, if desired.

Wiener Winks are a simple, tasty treat that’s sure to please both kids and adults alike. With their crispy exterior and melty cheese inside, these delightful snacks are perfect for any occasion.
