THAI TURMERIC CHICKEN

Thai Turmeric Chicken is a vibrant and flavorful dish that combines the earthiness of turmeric with the zesty, bold flavors typical of Thai cuisine. The chicken is marinated in a fragrant mix of turmeric, garlic, ginger, and lime juice, creating a golden, flavorful crust when grilled or pan-fried. The turmeric not only adds a beautiful color but also infuses the chicken with a warm, slightly peppery taste. This dish is perfect served with jasmine rice, fresh herbs, and a squeeze of lime for a light yet satisfying meal. It’s a great option for a quick dinner that’s full of fresh, exotic flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 2 teaspoons ground turmeric
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey or sugar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, whisk together the turmeric, garlic, ginger, lime juice, soy sauce (or fish sauce), vegetable oil, honey (if using), salt, and pepper. Add the chicken and toss to coat. Cover and let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  2. Cook the chicken: Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken for 5-7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and golden brown on the outside. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (75°C).
  3. Serve: Garnish the chicken with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.
