Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)
  • Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, and cornstarch. Toss to coat and let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and sesame seeds. Set aside.
  3. Cook the broccoli: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Cook the beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until it is browned and cooked through. Add the minced garlic and ginger and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Combine and finish: Return the broccoli to the skillet with the beef. Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture and stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is heated through.
  6. Serve: Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
