Chocolate Glaze

A luscious and glossy chocolate glaze can turn any dessert into a showstopper. This versatile glaze is perfect for drizzling over cakes, doughnuts, éclairs, or even dipping fruit. It adds a rich, chocolatey finish that hardens to a beautiful sheen, while still maintaining a slightly soft texture underneath. The key to achieving a smooth glaze lies in the quality of the chocolate and the gentle heating process, ensuring a silky consistency that spreads effortlessly.

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz (113g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp (30g) unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp (30g) light corn syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a heatproof bowl, combine the chopped chocolate, butter, and corn syrup.
  2. Set the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (double boiler method), ensuring the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water.
  3. Stir the mixture gently until the chocolate and butter are fully melted and smooth.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Let the glaze cool for 5–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reaches a pourable but thick consistency.
  6. Use immediately by pouring or spreading over your desired dessert. For a drizzled effect, transfer the glaze to a piping bag or use a spoon.

Enjoy your perfectly glazed treats!
