Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Add the softened butter, warm water, and beaten egg, and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  2. Shape the buñuelos: Divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each ball into a thin circle, about 1/8-inch thick.
  3. Heat the oil: In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the buñuelos: Carefully fry each dough circle one at a time, cooking for about 1-2 minutes per side or until golden and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  5. Coat with cinnamon sugar: In a small bowl, mix the sugar and ground cinnamon. While the buñuelos are still warm, toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly.
  6. Serve: Serve the buñuelos warm with an optional drizzle of honey or syrup for extra sweetness.
