Ingredients

For the cake:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

For the Oreo buttercream:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup crushed Oreo cookies (about 6-8 cookies)
  • 2-3 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For decoration:

  • 10-12 Oreo cookies, crushed or halved for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper.
  2. Make the cake batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed until well combined. Stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin, but that’s okay).
  3. Bake the cakes: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Make the Oreo buttercream: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating until smooth. Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, then mix in the crushed Oreos until fully combined.
  5. Assemble the cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a generous layer of Oreo buttercream on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining buttercream.
  6. Decorate: Garnish the top and sides of the cake with crushed Oreos or halved cookies for a fun, crunchy decoration.

This Oreo Cake is a deliciously indulgent dessert that combines moist chocolate cake with creamy, Oreo-filled frosting, making it a perfect centerpiece for any special occasion!
