This Southern-style sauce, made with mayonnaise, vinegar, and spices, adds a unique zesty kick to the chicken, perfectly balancing the smoky and savory flavors. Baking the chicken ensures it stays tender and moist, while the sauce caramelizes beautifully in the oven. This easy and delicious dish is perfect for weeknight dinners or backyard barbecues and pairs well with classic sides like coleslaw or cornbread.

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

For the Alabama white sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Season the chicken: Rub the chicken breasts with olive oil, and season both sides with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Make the Alabama white sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, horseradish, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), and lemon juice until smooth and creamy.
  4. Coat the chicken: Brush a generous amount of the Alabama white sauce over the chicken breasts, making sure they are well coated.
  5. Bake the chicken: Bake the chicken for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Halfway through baking, brush on more Alabama white sauce for extra flavor.
  6. Serve: Once the chicken is fully cooked, remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Serve with extra Alabama white sauce on the side for dipping.
