PORK TERIYAKI

Pork Teriyaki is a flavorful and easy-to-make dish that combines tender pork with a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce. This dish is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a casual meal with friends. The homemade teriyaki sauce coats the pork beautifully, and the dish can be served over steamed rice with a side of stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.

Ingredients:

For the Pork:

  • 1 pound pork tenderloin or pork chops, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 2 tablespoons sake or dry sherry (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening, optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pork:
    • Thinly slice the pork tenderloin or pork chops into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
  2. Make the Teriyaki Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, mirin, sake (if using), and brown sugar or honey until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
  3. Cook the Pork:
    • In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
    • Add the sliced pork to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until the pork is browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Add the Sauce:
    • Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the pork in the skillet. Stir to coat the pork evenly. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. Thicken the Sauce (Optional):
    • If you prefer a thicker sauce, stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened to your liking.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove the pork from the heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve the Pork Teriyaki over steamed rice, with a side of stir-fried or steamed vegetables.

Enjoy this Pork Teriyaki as a delicious and easy-to-make dish that’s perfect for a quick and satisfying meal!
