DIPPED CHERRY COOKIES

Dipped Cherry Cookies are a delightful treat that combines the sweet and tangy flavor of cherries with the rich, indulgent taste of chocolate. These cookies feature a soft and buttery base, studded with chopped maraschino cherries that add a pop of color and flavor to every bite. After baking, each cookie is dipped in melted chocolate, creating a beautiful contrast between the bright red cherries and the dark, glossy coating. Perfect for holiday cookie trays, special occasions, or simply as a sweet snack, Dipped Cherry Cookies are as pretty as they are delicious. Their eye-catching appearance and irresistible taste make them a favorite for both kids and adults alike.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
  • 1 cup semisweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Sprinkles for decoration (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add the almond extract and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour and salt to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms. Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries until evenly distributed.
  4. Shape the Cookies: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Flatten each ball slightly with the palm of your hand or the bottom of a glass.
  5. Bake: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Dip in Chocolate: Once the cookies are completely cool, melt the chocolate chips and vegetable oil together in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Dip half of each cookie into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off.
  7. Decorate and Set: If desired, add sprinkles to the chocolate-dipped portion of the cookies. Place the dipped cookies back on the parchment-lined baking sheet and let them sit until the chocolate sets, about 30 minutes.

Dipped Cherry Cookies are a sweet and festive treat, perfect for sharing with friends and family. Their combination of cherry flavor and rich chocolate makes them an irresistible addition to any cookie platter. Enjoy!
