Ingredients:

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving
  • Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef: Season the sliced beef with a pinch of salt and pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes, until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced bell peppers, onion, and carrot. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
  3. Add the Aromatics: Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  4. Combine and Cook: Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and the cornstarch mixture. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables.
  5. Finish and Serve: Drizzle with sesame oil if using, and give it one last stir. Serve the beef stir-fry over cooked rice or noodles, and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
