The combination of flavors—slightly bitter coffee, sweet mascarpone, and deep cocoa—creates a perfect balance that’s both indulgent and refreshing. Ideal for special occasions or when you want to impress your guests, Tiramisù is a timeless dessert that’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Each spoonful is a melt-in-your-mouth experience, bringing a taste of Italy right to your table.

Ingredients:

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream, cold
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed espresso or coffee, cooled
  • 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1 package (7 oz) ladyfingers (savoiardi)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Mascarpone Mixture:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and thick, about 5 minutes. Place the bowl over a double boiler (or a heatproof bowl over simmering water) and continue whisking for about 8 minutes until the mixture is thick and slightly warm. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
    • Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth and well combined.
  2. Whip the Cream:
    • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract to stiff peaks. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
  3. Prepare the Coffee Soak:
    • In a shallow dish, combine the cooled espresso or coffee with the coffee liqueur (if using).
  4. Assemble the Tiramisù:
    • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish or a similarly sized serving dish.
    • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers, smoothing it out with a spatula. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  5. Chill the Dessert:
    • Cover the tiramisù with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
  6. Serve:
    • Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisù generously with unsweetened cocoa powder. If desired, garnish with dark chocolate shavings. Cut into squares and serve chilled.

Tiramisù is a luxurious and satisfying dessert that’s perfect for any occasion. Its creamy layers and rich coffee flavor make it a favorite among dessert lovers, offering a perfect ending to any meal.
