Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes

Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes are the perfect side dish for any meal. They combine the rustic charm of boiled potatoes with the satisfying crunch that only an air fryer can deliver. With just a handful of ingredients, you can transform simple baby potatoes into a gourmet delight, seasoned to perfection with garlic, herbs, and a sprinkle of parmesan. Whether you’re serving them at a family dinner or as a party snack, these smashed potatoes are sure to impress.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound baby potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary or thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Boil the Potatoes:
    • Start by washing the baby potatoes and placing them in a large pot. Cover with water and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Drain and let them cool slightly.
  2. Smash the Potatoes:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the boiled potatoes on a flat surface and use the bottom of a glass or a potato masher to gently press down each potato until they’re about ½-inch thick.
  3. Season the Potatoes:
    • Transfer the smashed potatoes to a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle garlic powder, dried rosemary or thyme, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  4. Air Fry the Potatoes:
    • Arrange the potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they’re golden brown and crispy on the edges.
  5. Add Parmesan (Optional):
    • If using Parmesan, sprinkle it over the potatoes during the last 2 minutes of cooking to allow it to melt and create a crispy crust.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove the potatoes from the air fryer and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot and enjoy the crispy, savory goodness!

These Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes are best enjoyed fresh out of the fryer, but you can also reheat them in the air fryer for a few minutes if needed. They pair wonderfully with a variety of main dishes or can be enjoyed as a snack with your favorite dipping sauce.
