Ingredients:

For the Pizza Dough:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Pizza Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pizza Dough:
    • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water with the sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
    • In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  2. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
  3. Shape the Pizza:
    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a 12-inch round. Transfer the dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Add the Toppings:
    • Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Arrange the bell peppers, onion, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, and olives evenly over the cheese. Sprinkle with dried oregano and basil.
  5. Bake the Pizza:
    • Slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley. Slice and serve warm.

Veggie Pizza is a versatile and flavorful dish that can be customized with your favorite vegetables. It’s a delicious way to enjoy a fresh and healthy meal, making it a perfect choice for family dinners or casual gatherings.
