- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (for vegan option)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- Cooked rice, for serving (optional)
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
- Sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Tofu: Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes and place them in a bowl. Toss with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, soy sauce, cornstarch, and half of the black pepper until the tofu is well coated.
- Roast the Tofu: Spread the tofu cubes evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- Add the Broccoli: While the tofu is baking, toss the broccoli florets with the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. After 15 minutes, remove the tofu from the oven, push the tofu to one side of the sheet pan, and add the broccoli to the other side. Return the pan to the oven and roast for an additional 15 minutes, or until the tofu is crispy and the broccoli is tender and slightly charred.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, honey or maple syrup, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and the remaining black pepper.
- Combine and Serve: Once the tofu and broccoli are done, drizzle the sauce over the tofu and broccoli on the sheet pan. Toss gently to coat everything in the sauce. Serve immediately over cooked rice if desired, and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
