Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 pound scallops
  • 1/2 pound crab meat (lump or claw)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère or sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or individual ramekins.
  2. Cook the Seafood:
    • In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the shrimp and scallops, cooking for 2-3 minutes until they are just opaque. Stir in the crab meat and cook for an additional minute. Remove the seafood from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Cheese Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden. Gradually whisk in the milk and cream, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the Cheese and Seasonings:
    • Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the shredded Gruyère or cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, Dijon mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Combine with Seafood:
    • Gently fold the cooked seafood into the cheese sauce, ensuring it is evenly coated. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish or divide it among the individual ramekins.
  6. Prepare the Topping:
    • In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the melted butter. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top of the seafood mixture.
  7. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.
  8. Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve hot.
