Pork Milanese

Pork Milanese is a delightful twist on the classic Italian dish, bringing a crisp, golden-brown crust and tender, juicy pork to your table. This dish features thinly sliced pork chops that are breaded and fried to perfection, offering a satisfying crunch with every bite. The key to its success lies in the combination of flavorful seasonings and a simple breading process that elevates the pork to a new level of deliciousness. Served with a squeeze of lemon and a side of fresh salad or pasta, Pork Milanese makes for a wonderfully easy yet impressive meal perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless pork chops (about 1/2 inch thick)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil, for frying
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pork Chops: Place the pork chops between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Gently pound them with a meat mallet or rolling pin until they are about 1/4 inch thick. Season both sides of the pork chops with salt and pepper.
  2. Bread the Pork Chops: Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. In the first dish, place the flour. In the second dish, beat the eggs with a fork. In the third dish, combine the Italian-style breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese. Dredge each pork chop in the flour, shaking off any excess, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  3. Fry the Pork Chops: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the breaded pork chops, cooking them in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan. Fry each side for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer the cooked pork chops to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  4. Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired, and serve the Pork Milanese with lemon wedges for squeezing over the top. Enjoy alongside a fresh salad, pasta, or your favorite side dishes.

Bon appétit!
