Ingredients:

  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Caramelize the onions: Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 20-25 minutes until the onions are golden brown and caramelized. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and let the onions cool completely.
  2. Prepare the dip: In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in the cooled caramelized onions.
  3. Chill and serve: Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld. Before serving, garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve with chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
