Infused with classic Italian flavors from a garlic herb marinade, this sandwich is both satisfying and packed with bold taste. Whether you’re grilling for a crowd or just making a quick meal, this sandwich will hit the spot with its combination of textures and rich flavors.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb flank or skirt steak
- 4 ciabatta rolls, split
- 1 cup roasted red peppers (jarred or homemade)
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- 1 cup fresh arugula
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Rub this marinade all over the steak and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until your desired level of doneness. Remove from the grill and let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
- While the steak rests, lightly toast the ciabatta rolls on the grill for 1-2 minutes until they are golden and crispy.
- To assemble the sandwich, layer the sliced steak on the bottom half of each roll. Top with roasted red peppers, a slice of provolone cheese, and a handful of fresh arugula.
- Place the sandwiches back on the grill for 2-3 minutes, until the cheese melts slightly and the sandwich is warmed through.
- Remove from the grill, close the sandwiches, and serve immediately.
Enjoy this delicious Italian steak sandwich with a side of chips or a fresh salad for a complete meal!
