CHERRY BONBON COOKIES

Cherry Bonbon Cookies are delightful little treats that look as charming as they taste. Each cookie is a tender, buttery ball of dough, wrapped around a sweet maraschino cherry and baked to perfection. Once cooled, they’re drizzled with a light glaze, adding an extra touch of sweetness and shine. These bite-sized cookies are perfect for special occasions, holidays, or simply whenever you’re in the mood for a pop of color and flavor in your dessert lineup.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 24 maraschino cherries, drained
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp cherry juice (from maraschino cherries)
  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the milk and vanilla extract, mixing well. Gradually stir in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
  3. Wrap the cherries: Take about a tablespoon of dough and flatten it in your hand. Place a maraschino cherry in the center and wrap the dough around it, completely enclosing the cherry. Roll the dough into a smooth ball and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough and cherries.
  4. Bake: Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are just slightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool on a wire rack.
  5. Make the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cherry juice, and milk until smooth.
  6. Glaze the cookies: Once the cookies have cooled, drizzle the glaze over each one.
