Calzone Pinwheels

Calzone Pinwheels are a fun and bite-sized twist on the classic calzone, perfect for appetizers, snacks, or casual gatherings. These savory pinwheels are made with pizza dough rolled up with a filling of melted cheese, pepperoni, ham, and your favorite pizza toppings, then baked to golden perfection. Each spiral packs all the flavors of a traditional calzone, but in a more convenient and shareable form. Serve them with marinara sauce for dipping, and you’ve got a delicious snack that’s sure to please a crowd.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup marinara or pizza sauce, plus more for dipping
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni or diced ham
  • 1/4 cup chopped bell peppers (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Roll out the refrigerated pizza dough into a rectangle, about 10×15 inches, on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Add the Toppings: Spread the marinara or pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella, Parmesan, pepperoni or ham, and any optional toppings (such as bell peppers or olives) evenly over the sauce. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  4. Roll and Slice: Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll up the dough into a log, like a jelly roll. Pinch the seams to seal. Slice the roll into 1-inch thick pinwheels using a sharp knife.
  5. Bake the Pinwheels: Place the pinwheels, cut-side up, on the prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and brush the tops of the pinwheels with the mixture. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  6. Serve: Serve warm with additional marinara or pizza sauce on the side for dipping.

These Calzone Pinwheels are easy to make, customizable with your favorite fillings, and perfect for any occasion where you want to offer a savory and satisfying bite!
