Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups napa cabbage, finely chopped
  • 3 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Dumplings:

  • 40 gyoza wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water

For the Dipping Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili oil (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon green onion, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling:
    • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, napa cabbage, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  2. Assemble the gyoza:
    • Place a gyoza wrapper in the palm of your hand. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the filling into the center of the wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water using your finger.
    • Fold the wrapper in half over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together, pleating them to seal the dumpling. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Cook the gyoza:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Arrange half of the gyoza in a single layer in the skillet, flat side down. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
    • Carefully add 2 tablespoons of water to the skillet, immediately cover with a lid, and reduce the heat to medium. Steam the gyoza for 5-6 minutes until the filling is cooked through and the wrappers are tender. Remove the lid and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to evaporate any remaining water and crisp up the bottoms. Repeat with the remaining gyoza.
  4. Prepare the dipping sauce:
    • In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, chili oil (if using), and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the chopped green onion.
  5. Serve:
    • Arrange the cooked gyoza on a serving plate and serve with the dipping sauce on the side.

Enjoy your Beef Gyoza as a delicious and satisfying dish that brings the flavors of Japan to your table, perfect for any occasion!
