Ingredients:

For the Brownies:

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 large ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

For the Brown Butter Frosting:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the brownie batter:
    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the melted butter and sugar until smooth.
    • Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and sour cream, and beat until well combined.
    • Stir in the mashed bananas.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  3. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the brownies cool completely.
  4. Make the brown butter frosting:
    • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it becomes a golden brown color and gives off a nutty aroma.
    • Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
    • In a medium bowl, combine the browned butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Stir until smooth and spreadable, adding more milk if needed for the right consistency.
  5. Frost the brownies: Once the brownies are cool, spread the brown butter frosting evenly over the top. Cut into squares and enjoy!
