Baked Teriyaki Chicken Drumsticks

Baked Teriyaki Chicken Drumsticks are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that’s perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings. The drumsticks are marinated in a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce, which caramelizes beautifully in the oven, creating a sticky and flavorful glaze. This dish pairs well with rice or a fresh salad, making it a versatile option for any meal. The combination of tender chicken and rich sauce ensures that each bite is packed with flavor, satisfying both kids and adults alike.

Ingredients:

  • 10 chicken drumsticks
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade:
    • In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Marinate the Chicken:
    • Place the chicken drumsticks in a large zip-top bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Bake the Chicken:
    • Remove the drumsticks from the marinade and place them on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper. Reserve the marinade for later use.
    • Bake the drumsticks in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, turning them halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy.
  5. Prepare the Sauce:
    • While the chicken is baking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat.
    • In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Add the slurry to the boiling marinade, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  6. Glaze the Chicken:
    • Once the drumsticks are cooked, brush them with the thickened teriyaki sauce. Return the drumsticks to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to allow the glaze to set.
  7. Serve:
    • Remove the drumsticks from the oven and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Enjoy your flavorful and tender Baked Teriyaki Chicken Drumsticks with a side of steamed rice or a fresh green salad!
