Apple Fritters are a delightful treat that combines the sweet, juicy goodness of apples with a crispy, golden-brown exterior. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a snack, these fritters are easy to make and can be enjoyed any time of the day. The apples are mixed into a simple batter and then fried until crisp, creating a delicious contrast between the tender fruit and the crunchy coating. Finished with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of glaze, these fritters are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth and leave you craving more.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • For the Glaze:
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Batter:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
    • In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apples.
  2. Heat the Oil:
    • In a deep skillet or heavy-bottomed pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  3. Fry the Fritters:
    • Using a large spoon or an ice cream scoop, carefully drop about 1/4 cup of batter per fritter into the hot oil. Fry the fritters in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot.
    • Cook each fritter for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fritters to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  4. Prepare the Glaze:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Glaze the Fritters:
    • Once the fritters have cooled slightly, drizzle them with the glaze or dust them with powdered sugar.

Enjoy your freshly made Apple Fritters, a sweet and satisfying treat that’s perfect for any occasion!
