Ingredients:

  • 4 cups fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup French fried onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the green beans: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for about 5 minutes until they are tender but still crisp. Drain and set aside.
  3. Cook the bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until it’s crispy. Remove the bacon and set it aside on a paper towel-lined plate. Leave about 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings in the skillet.
  4. Sauté the onions and garlic: In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook for about 3-4 minutes until it becomes translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Mix in the barbecue sauce: Stir in the barbecue sauce and let it simmer for a couple of minutes. Add the sour cream and stir until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Combine the ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked green beans, bacon (reserve a little for topping), and the barbecue sauce mixture. Stir until everything is evenly coated.
  7. Assemble the bake: Transfer the green bean mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top, followed by the reserved bacon and French fried onions.
  8. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the topping is golden brown.
  9. Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Barbecue Green Bean Bake warm.

This dish is a wonderful combination of savory and smoky flavors, with just the right amount of crunch. Perfect for any occasion!
