Chicken ‘N’ Chips

Chicken ‘N’ Chips is a fun and nostalgic dish that combines the crispy goodness of fried chicken with the satisfying crunch of potato chips. Perfect for a casual dinner or a family gathering, this recipe takes a playful twist on the classic pairing by incorporating crushed potato chips into the chicken coating, adding an extra layer of flavor and texture. The result is a tender, juicy chicken with a golden, crunchy crust that’s hard to resist. Serve it with your favorite dipping sauces and a side of fries or a fresh salad to complete this comfort food feast.

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups crushed potato chips (use your favorite flavor)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Coating: In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk. Place the crushed potato chips in a third shallow dish.
  2. Coat the Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness, about 1/2 inch. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Dip the chicken into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated, then press it into the crushed potato chips, covering both sides.
  3. Fry the Chicken: Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated chicken breasts. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  4. Serve: Remove the chicken from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve the Chicken ‘N’ Chips hot with your favorite dipping sauces and sides.

Enjoy your crispy, crunchy, and flavorful Chicken ‘N’ Chips!
