Ingredients
- Cake:
- 1 cup (240 ml) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups (315 g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup (75 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (240 ml) sour cream
- 1 cup (240 ml) hot coffee
- Chocolate Glaze (optional):
- 1 cup (180 g) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
- Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Mix the dry ingredients in another bowl: flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and sour cream to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.
- Slowly stir in the hot coffee until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan for about 15 minutes, then invert it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze (optional): In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering. Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips and butter. Stir until smooth and glossy. Drizzle over the cooled cake.
- Serve and enjoy! Dust with powdered sugar or serve with fresh berries for a delightful contrast.
