Balsamic Chicken & Pears

This Balsamic Chicken & Pears dish combines the rich, tangy flavor of balsamic vinegar with the natural sweetness of pears, creating a delightful balance of tastes that is both savory and sweet. The juicy chicken breasts are marinated and then seared to perfection, while the pears add a subtle fruity note that elevates the entire meal. This dish is not only delicious but also visually appealing, with the caramelized pears providing a beautiful contrast to the golden brown chicken. It’s perfect for a cozy dinner or when you want to impress guests with a unique and flavorful entrée.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 ripe pears, cored and sliced
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken:
    • In a bowl, combine the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic, honey, salt, and pepper.
    • Place the chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Ensure the chicken is well coated.
    • Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours for best results.
  2. Cook the Chicken:
    • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the butter.
    • Remove the chicken from the marinade (reserve the marinade for later) and place the chicken in the skillet.
    • Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice golden color. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Pears:
    • In the same skillet, add the sliced pears and cook for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften and caramelize slightly.
    • Add the reserved marinade and chicken broth to the skillet with the pears.
    • Bring to a simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to reduce and thicken slightly.
  4. Combine and Serve:
    • Return the chicken to the skillet and coat it with the sauce.
    • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat the chicken through.
    • Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves before serving.
  5. Serving Suggestion:
    • Serve the balsamic chicken and pears over a bed of rice or alongside roasted vegetables for a complete meal. Enjoy!
