Sugar Cream Pie is the epitome of comfort food, perfect for holidays, family gatherings, or whenever you crave a sweet, creamy treat. It’s an easy-to-make pie that delights with its delicate sweetness and silky texture.

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small cubes
  • 3-4 tablespoons ice water

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional, for sprinkling on top)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Crust:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and sugar.
    • Add the chilled butter cubes and cut them into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Gradually add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing just until the dough comes together.
    • Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie dish. Transfer the dough to the pie dish, trim any excess, and crimp the edges.
    • Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork and bake for 10 minutes, until lightly golden. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Make the Filling:
    • In a medium saucepan, whisk together the granulated sugar and flour.
    • Gradually whisk in the heavy cream until smooth.
    • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble, about 5-7 minutes.
    • Remove from heat and stir in the melted butter and vanilla extract.
  4. Assemble the Pie:
    • Pour the filling into the pre-baked pie crust.
    • If desired, sprinkle the top with ground cinnamon or nutmeg for added flavor.
  5. Bake the Pie:
    • Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is lightly browned.
    • Let the pie cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the filling to fully set.
  6. Serve:
    • Slice and serve the pie chilled or at room temperature.

Enjoy your smooth and creamy Sugar Cream Pie, a sweet and comforting dessert that’s perfect for any occasion!
