Air-Fryer Tuna Burgers are a quick, healthy, and delicious option for a weeknight meal. Combining the savory flavors of tuna with fresh herbs and a hint of citrus, these burgers offer a light and satisfying alternative to traditional beef patties. The air fryer makes them crispy on the outside while keeping them moist and tender on the inside, all without the need for excessive oil. Serve them on whole wheat buns with your favorite toppings and a side of sweet potato fries for a balanced and tasty meal that the whole family will love.
Ingredients:
- 2 cans of tuna in water, drained
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Cooking spray
Instructions:
- Prepare the Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, breadcrumbs, red onion, celery, parsley, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon zest, and the beaten egg. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Cook the Burgers: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the tuna patties in the basket in a single layer, making sure they do not overlap. Lightly spray the tops of the patties with cooking spray as well. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the patties are golden brown and crispy on both sides.
- Assemble the Burgers: Serve the tuna burgers on whole wheat buns with your favorite toppings. Suggested toppings include lettuce, tomato slices, red onion rings, pickles, and a dollop of tartar sauce or a squeeze of lemon juice.
- Enjoy: Pair with a side of sweet potato fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal. Enjoy your healthy and flavorful Air-Fryer Tuna Burgers!
