Ingredients

For the churros:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the cinnamon sugar coating:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the chocolate dipping sauce:

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp honey or sugar (optional for sweetness)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make the churro dough: In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the flour until it forms a smooth dough. Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  2. Prepare the oil: Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large pot or deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Pipe the churros: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil, using scissors to cut the dough. Fry the churros for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Coat with cinnamon sugar: In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon. Once the churros are fried, drain them on paper towels, then toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture while still warm.
  5. Make the chocolate sauce: In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips, honey (if using), and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and glossy.
  6. Serve: Serve the warm churros with the chocolate dipping sauce on the side.

These Churros with Chocolate Dipping Sauce are a crispy, sweet indulgence with a rich, luscious chocolate dip, perfect for satisfying your dessert cravings!
