SOUR CREAM LASAGNA

Ingredients:

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles: Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Make the meat sauce: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion and garlic, and sauté until softened. Stir in the marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Mix the cheese filling: In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream, ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and egg. Mix until smooth.
  5. Assemble the lasagna: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread one-third of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by one-third of the meat sauce. Repeat the layers twice more, ending with a layer of meat sauce on top.
  6. Add the mozzarella: Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella over the top of the lasagna.
  7. Bake: Cover the lasagna with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
