Whether you’re serving it for a family gathering or a festive celebration, this Sweet Bourbon Ham will be a hit on your table.

Ingredients:

  • 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (about 8-10 pounds)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Place the ham on a rack in a large roasting pan, cut side down.
  2. Prepare the glaze: In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, bourbon, Dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, ground cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture comes to a simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, until the glaze thickens slightly.
  3. Score the ham: Using a sharp knife, score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, making shallow cuts about 1/4 inch deep. This will allow the glaze to penetrate the meat and create a beautiful presentation.
  4. Glaze the ham: Brush about half of the bourbon glaze over the ham, making sure to get it into the scored cuts. Reserve the remaining glaze for later.
  5. Roast the ham: Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and roast in the preheated oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C). Baste the ham with the remaining glaze every 30 minutes.
  6. Finish the ham: For the last 30 minutes of roasting, remove the foil to allow the glaze to caramelize and the ham to develop a deep golden-brown color.
  7. Rest and serve: Once the ham is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving. Serve the ham slices with any additional glaze drizzled on top.

Enjoy your Sweet Bourbon Ham with your favorite side dishes, and savor the rich, sweet, and savory flavors!
