Ingredients:

  • 1 pound cooked shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1 envelope (1/4 ounce) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
  • Crackers or toast points for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Gelatin:
    • In a small saucepan, sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over the cold water and let it sit for a few minutes to soften. Heat the gelatin mixture over low heat, stirring until it is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. Make the Shrimp Mixture:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish (if using), and hot sauce (if using). Beat until smooth and well blended.
  3. Add the Shrimp and Vegetables:
    • Fold in the chopped shrimp, celery, and green onions. Stir in the dissolved gelatin, mixing until everything is evenly combined.
  4. Mold the Spread:
    • Lightly grease a decorative mold or a bowl with nonstick cooking spray. Pour the shrimp mixture into the mold, smoothing the top. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
  5. Unmold and Serve:
    • To unmold, gently run a knife around the edges of the mold. Invert the mold onto a serving platter and give it a slight shake to release the spread. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve the molded shrimp spread with crackers or toast points.

Molded Shrimp Spread is a classic appetizer that’s sure to impress your guests with its creamy texture and flavorful blend of shrimp and seasonings. Whether served at a holiday party or a casual gathering, this elegant spread is a delightful way to start any occasion.
