BEEF BARBECUE

  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the beef: Season the beef chuck roast with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Set it aside while you prepare the other ingredients.
  2. Sear the beef (optional for added flavor): In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium-high heat. Sear the beef on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove the beef and set it aside.
  3. Slow cook the beef: In a slow cooker, add the sliced onion and minced garlic to the bottom. Place the seared beef on top of the onions. In a bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Pour the mixture over the beef.
  4. Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 4-5 hours, until the beef is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
  5. Shred the beef: Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and mix it with the sauce.
  6. Serve: Serve the beef barbecue hot, either on buns for sandwiches, over rice, or with your favorite side dishes.
